The St. Joseph Food Program is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-sectarian organization that has operated since 1982. Weekly we distribute 30 tons of fresh food and non-perishable items to hundreds of men, women and children - the elderly, working poor and temporarily unemployed. We are funded by cash and food donations from individuals, churches, businesses and foundations.
Four hundred volunteers facilitate the distribution of foods. Many of these volunteers drive our trucks, making daily stops at local groceries, food marts and other sites to pick up donations.
Even with generous community support and food donations, St. Joseph Food Program still has to purchase fresh milk and other staples to keep the shelves stocked. Over $120,000 a year is spent to purchase fresh milk.
