# 3 - Growing Vegetable Soup:
September 2010
With September being the end of the growing season, Growing Vegetable Soup provided an excellent fall theme and story for families. Following a visit to the vegetable garden on the St. Joe's property, each family received all the ingredients needed for making vegetable soup, vegetable seeds and instructions on how to plant a spring garden, as well as a gift card to purchase new jeans. "Seeing the excitement on the children's faces as the returned from pulling up vegetables in the garden was priceless. They couldn't wait to show us what they had in their bags," said Monica Clare, Director of Operations at St. Joe's.
#2 - Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs:
October 2009
Using the theme from the popular children's story, each family received a copy of the book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, as well as a package of meatballs, pasta and other food items. The Community Clothes Closet distributed sleeping bags and flashlights to each of the participating children.

#1 - Pigs in a Blanket:
February 2009
On a snowy day in February, 200 families joined St. Joe's for the first Storybook Series event. Each family received the book Pigs in a Blanket, a ham and all the fixings to help make the meal go further including a package of 15 bean soup mix, corn bread, sausage links, pancake mix and syrup, as well as a Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham cookbook. The Community Clothes Closet provided blankets, socks, mittens and hats to the families.
